Total industrial production increased by 0.9% month-on-month, driven by growth in services (0.7%) and mining/manufacturing (0.6%). Retail sales decreased by 3.3% due to lower sales of non-durable goods like food and semi-durable goods like clothing. In terms of investment, equipment investment rose by 1.5%, and construction completed increased by 6.6% due to improved building performance.

Production and investment show a positive trend as output in key industries such as semiconductors (7.5%) and electronic components (5.0%) increased. However, the cyclical component of the coincident composite index, which reflects current conditions, fell by 0.4p. Meanwhile, the cyclical component of the leading composite index, which predicts future trends, rose by 0.3p, showing mixed signals.

Vitality in related industries is expected to improve due to the recovery in the semiconductor sector. However, a significant drop in sales at large malls (-14.1%) and supermarkets (-8.7%) indicates a contraction in grocery spending. There is a visible trend of reduced household expenditure, with consumption of clothing (-3.6%) and food/beverages (-4.3%) declining.
